Hiring an Immigration Representative in Boston

An immigration representative is someone who can assist you with the immigration process. No matter what kind of services you are looking for, including applying for a work permit, applying for a study permit or student visa, reuniting with your family members, sponsoring a spouse, visiting a country or moving to a country permanently, an immigration representative can help you with your application and provide advice and guidance. Depending on what kind of immigration representative you choose, you may also be entitled to a number of other beneficial services.

The two types of immigration representatives in the United States and Canada are immigration lawyers and immigration consultants.

Immigration Lawyers Or Immigration Consultants?

An immigration consultant is not the same as an immigration lawyer. For example, an immigration lawyer has completed law school and specializes in immigration law. They are able to offer you legal advice and explain immigration procedures to you. They can also advise you of your legal options if an application is denied, or prepare legal submission letters to explain to authorities why you are a suitable candidate for the immigration category you are applying for. In other words, they are able to offer you any service you need when it comes to the immigration process.

There are limits, however, to what an immigration consultant can offer you with regards to services. They can help you with your applications and submissions, as well as offer some expertise in the subject – they are not allowed to give you legal advice.

The regulatory system in place for each of these types of immigration representatives is quite different as well. Immigration consultants have a regulatory organization in Canada that is about a year old, put in place after the government determined that the previous governing body was ineffective at dealing with consultants that were fraudulent or doing a poor job. Lawyers on the other hand, are regulated by law societies and bar associations that make sure they are held to high standards of professionalism and ethics or they risk losing their license.

Why hire us for your immigration needs

Even though professionally, an immigration lawyer is held to high standards, that doesn’t mean that every immigration lawyer is the same. In fact, they are very different across the board and while there are some truly great ones, there are some that might just be okay. “Okay” is not acceptable when it comes to something as important as your immigration case! It is a big step, so make sure you are only trusting someone with your immigration case who deserves to help you.
